History
In 1942 a two gun battery was built at Point Peron. The guns had a range of 18.4 km and were installed to protect the southern entrance to Garden Island naval area (Gun Sites at Cape Peron). Recently Heritage Detection Australia visited Point Peron to see first-hand the evidence of WW2 infrastructure. HDA has a growing interest and experience in the history, heritage and archaeology of Western Australian coastal defences, having previously located an unknown WW2 observation post south of Geraldton and carried out a preliminary examination of the North Head radar station site near Jurien Baym. The remains of the Point Peron WW2 battery are easily accessed by a walk trail. While one gun emplacement is in good condition the second emplacement is on an eroding sand dune which has caused it to collapse. Bunkers, observation posts and other infrastructure are still in good structural condition.
The explore was nice and hot and undisturbed other than the massive bloody orb weevers inches away from my face.
inside another fucked up bunker this one being the command bunker.
