Report - Wickford Action Park- my first explore - Essex - Jan 2019

Have wanted to explore abandoned places for such a long time and finally decided to give it a go.
This seemed to be a perfect place to start & was a great first experience.

We learnt that the place has been closed since 2015 and are awaiting planning permission to re-open. Councillors found that issues such as noise pollution, the access road and the land being green belt were sufficient reasons to not reopen the park. The park was closed after Basildon Council issued a notice, ordering it to halt its operations, the council first issues enforcement notices back in 2011. The enforcement notice came into action in January this year and the use of the land as an Action Park has been stopped.
An appeal was lodged but it was unsuccessful.

Never knew about this and right on my doorstep when I lived in Rayleigh. What was it exactly?
Could you drive these things or play at soldiers etc.

From looking on the website it looks like there was a lot to do, army assault courses, paintball, rock climbing and driving around in some of the vehicles as well as quad bikes. Here’s the link. http://www.actionpark.co.uk Was an interesting place to explore.
