Sixxfingers and Madmax Visited here last year in July and as they said last year well worth the visit. The tour guide remebered their vist qouting "One the 28 DL fellas that visited last year called me cute!" ... Ok who was it? and I also agree
Apparrently we were the first to use the installed stairlift at the emergency exit, that was put in for Health and safety in 1984. the Stairlift was fitted last year and until now had not been used, from the spider activity it looks pretty true.
Anyway here are our pics, Ange74 will put up the ones she wants in the same thread.
1. Group 20 HQ ROC York
2.Main Corridor to the Bunker
3.Stairs down to the command centre.
4.Telephone Exchange room, when first opened this was a manned, manual exchange
5.Sewage and fresh water pumping room, this flooded the ROC when it backed up with Carbon monoxide.
6.View of the operations room
7.Escape hatch, closed due to health and Safety in 1984
8.View from the escape hatch
Totally agree with Sixx and Mad, this is really amazing well worth visiting, its English Heritage too so its people visiting that make it possible to stay open.
