Tranmere Deep Shelter - December 2015

    Some info from another thread:
Friend of mine mentioned this place to me.

We gathered some info from this site and previous explorations, including the map posted here.

Here's some images of the outside/entrance:
Scouting the entrnace during the day with my buddy Cosmo:
(This is entrance #2 on the map by the way, the only remaining entry point)

    The entrance:

    Closer look:

    Anyway, that's the preface.

The gear we took inside included hard hats, multiple torches, the map above, chalk to mark the walls to help us find our way (the place is a maze and despite the map and chalk we still got lost), also particulate filter masks as we had read on here about asbestos in there.

This hard hat I stuck a headlamp on:

And here's the video of the whole tour:
    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0WO3oj4Oiytitdb8MEUJt-yjPEn2YgXE
It's split into multiple clips because my phone was being janky at the time, and sometimes not saving recordings, so rather than spend 2 hours filming and then having it fail, I stopped and started the recording multiple times. However, the playlist is in the proper order with almost no gaps.

We're both eager to explore other places in the area and perhaps meet with others in the area to do so, so if anyone's interested shoot me a PM :)

Edited post to remove details because some people think the fuzz have nothing better to do than scour forums, somehow track down the poster with their elite CSI: Internet team, charge them with B&E into an abandoned area, and actually go forth with a prosecution case. Deary me.

Cheers for posting this mate, I know this was Dec last year but she is still open for business now.
A real gem for certain, but the latest peeps to gain entry did not have your finesse because the metal door is nowhere to be seen and smacks of G clamps and a towbar type entry :)
A lovely bit of local history :thumb

    Hah thanks everyone :)

Definitely up for something more, what's the other local thing?

We're aware of the bunker beneath Bidston Hill, but we've explored all possible entrances there and they've been totally sealed up with concrete and had tons of mud piled on top.

I thought only epic explorers used Crowbars and discussed it in Public ;) Personally i don"t agree with it or indeed showing pics forcing access!

    Just my 2P

I'm sure scotland yard are right on my tail by now.

Despite the hyperbole, I've edited my post to make sure it's in line with the forum rules.

I think you should be castrated at the very least;also be put on a curfew after dark.We don't want people like you roaming around the countryside, breaking the law and taking advantage Decent law-abiding people wouldn't dream of doing such things like that.
I would have thought someone who owns a Corgi would be more responsible.

This goes to show how very VERY little you know about this whole exploring game. Maybe you should keep those opinions to yourself until you have been around for more than a few days.

Don't suppose there's an FAQ/guide or anything then to bring me up to speed on all the rules?

It's called common sense, you don't need a guide for that.

    • If you go to a place and make your own entrance...you have broken in, no matter how you 'mend' the access once you are done.
    • If you go somewhere with things that you don't need (i.e. you take a lighter somewhere and you don't smoke / don't have ciggs with you) then you have a chance of being charged with going equipped.

There are plenty of other examples, but if you think about them, they are obvious.

I get what you're saying, but do you really think the local council is going to track some anonymous forum poster down and spend all the money charging them for B&E into an unoccupied place like that? I mean come on. The amount of people that have broken into there over the years, how many do you think even were attempted to be tracked down and caught? My guess would be 0. I think you're just being a bit paranoid here.
