    Hi everyone,

I am a UK based film-maker that has always had a keen interest in urbex. I have experienced many explorations across the north west UK (I live 5 minuets away from the old camalot theme park) and I now want to create a documentary about it, talk to the people who love it and explore regularly and show an insight into the underground world of Urbex. Obviously privacy and confidentiality would be respected but we could talk about the idea more if people are interested. Just putting the feelers out.

    Lots of love,

    Laurie ;)

I'd like to be in your documentary

Just to explain how documentaries and media coverage of this so called " new craze " make explorers all look like idiots and media whores when 90% of us are not

    Spot the irony............

In my eyes a documentary will never be able to grasp the real feeling of exploring

It's not just about the explore, the building, the history, dodging secca although they all help.

Some of us spend weeks researching a place, googling it, google earthing it, visiting it, photographing it and heading home before we actually do it.

For me its about the jokes, the camaraderie, knowing that they guys I explore with have my back and will look out for me as I do for them, it's about the rush of all the above points mixed together, something you just can't capture in a documentary.

There are those of us who like to be first in somewhere and find new locations, That feeling cannot be replicated.

I agree with Mockney. You just can't sum this up in a documentary. I mean, for starters, most of us work and sleep. Then we've got friends, family, other interests. How much time is left for this ? Mostly it's just about doing research online, and that often comes to nothing, or you can't be bothered doing anything about it.

The actual exploring bit is fairly tame and not worth anything more than the explorers own pictures. In most cases it's just about being with your friends doing something a bit exciting, and usually it's nothing epic.

I agree there's the odd great video, the Shanghai crane climb for example, but mostly it's rubbish. The chances of being with explorers as they pull off the next big thing is slim to none.

    Exactly that /\/\/\

The next big thing can never really be planned, its 50/50 between planning and luck

You couldn't grab that initial "fuck moment" on film, that moment is a one off, something that can never be repeated.

Taking one of my own personal "public" explores, you could never capture the feeling of walking out of the woods to the Millennium Falcon, The rush in your head as you climb a fence, jump a river, the adrenaline takes over and any fear leaves your body but common sense still occasionally wins over. That's what any documentary will miss.
