Conspiracy Theories abounded. This unfinished complex further out in the middle of nowhere than its smaller cousin had acquired an aura of spookiness among us in the weeks of research leading up to our roadtrip out to investigate for ourselves. Stories of armed guards in all black uniforms and late night cargo plane landings at the site along with structures on the satellite photos we couldn’t classify left us wondering what would greet us when we crossed over the fence line that night.

As we trecked under the moonlight through waist high weeds for a long mile we were weary of the possibility of ghillie suited government spooks popping up out of nowhere and shoving the rifle muzzles in our terrified faces. This scenario never occurred however and after two hours of navigating weeds, open fields with long rows of strange modular prison cells stretching into the distance, and dodging remote cameras we made it to the base of the cooling tower.

All four of us started the climb just before dawn, but alas only one made it to the top as the sun was coming up. My time up there was brief as I didn’t want to make the long descent in full daylight. We spent the next couple hours of the early morning exploring the two most complete reactor units and their adjacent turbine buildings. As we made our way around the site we couldn’t help but notice the unordinarily large number of spiders present. We attributed this phenomenon to the conspiracies. Clearly the arachnids were highly trained genetically engineered attack devices made to protect the governments secret UFO experiments somewhere on the grounds.
