Walkley Clogs is a clog factory where the Great British clog was manufactured in its entirety. The company was started by Frank Walkley in 1946. The main styles manufactured at that time were the Safety Boot Clog, Derby, Gibson and the Bar Clog. With slipon style being produced much later on.

In 1978, Frank Walkley bought out the famous Maude clog sole works in Hebden Bridge, a company that had over 100 employees that produced nothing but clog soles. Before it’s closure, they still used the old machines for turning the wooden clog soles, and manufacturing the irons. The clog making skills used were the ones passed down for generations of Walkley Clog makers. They were proud to keep the old additional styles and over the years, manufactured many more styles that fit in with the modern market. They were also seen on the cat walks, and every year worked with budding fashion designers who always had their own ideas on clog design. They produced a wide range of clogs, with over 40 styles and the offer to custom clogs in any style and colour.

Access was easy and easily one of my favourite explores, I was surprised at how much was left intact.

Be careful of the slide (us Urbexers love being children occasionally), someone had taped razors to the inside!

Nice, I love this place, I've never been down the slide for fear there would be something unpleasant left in there - it is Hebden Bridge afterall!

It is a whole lot of fun! Yeah I didn't go down it either, I just crawled up in a vain attempt to get all the razors off. :')

Why does it make you giggle?

    So it's not Hebden Bridge?

The ridiculous mix of industry and tacky museum is what makes me chuckle. Is there not a load of machines in there too?

Yeah Mytholmroyd, it's a mile or two down the road from Hebden Bridge though so I'm sure you'll get away with it.
