Visited here in April with 2 non members. The place was fairly easy to find and by the looks of it there wasn't any security onsite, but in the past I had heard from people that there were motion sensor alarm in the building, we didn't see any or set any off, so they may have been broken or stolen. I couldn't find much history on this place but thankfully I took a visitors leaflet before leaving and there was a bit of history in there, so here goes:

The mill itself was built in the late 1800's, but was bought by the owner of Walkley Clogs in 1978, and they continued to manufacture clogs for a good 30 years. The clog factory was one of the Calder Valley's most popular tourist attractions during the 1980s but began to wind down during the 1990s after a devastating fire which happened in December 1990. The building closed in 1999, and has been waiting for apartment approval for some time now.

The building consists of 4 floors, all that contain department stores. There is also a play area, various cafes,Santa's grotto, and some pretty impressive engine things on the ground floor (I'm not familiar with old fashioned machinery haha) Also, lots of bird poop, and dead pigeons lying around, so don't make the mistake I made by not wearing any face protection

    Anyway, on with the photos....

My parents used to take me and my sister here as children. It was a magical place on the run up to Xmas. They had a mechanical Father Christmas asleep, snoring in his bed haha. Loads of decorations and Xmas trees. Great photos, shame to see it left to decay.
