As I've been forced to go back to exploring on my own again (Which I'm preferring) visited this gem yesterday, on my own but with
massive thanks to Acid Reflux who talked me in via mobile :thumb:thumb all be it he instructed me to go through a window with a massive drop
then when I got further in to the building I realised this place is now a walk in lol all the attaching buildings have gone (pulled down)

If you plan to go for one last visit you need to go NOW while I was their they were pulling it down as I was in it a few buildings away
This place is trashed! It's the only building where I've backed out of a room due to the floor, made a step in the room felt my foot go about 3 inches
further than it should of and heard lot's of things falling on to the floor beneath me on the next level down, I got the picture I wanted quick and fu@ked off :coat

Whittingham Hospital opened officially on 1st April 1873, built by bricks made on site, the source being what became to be known as the "duck pond" but referred to on maps as the "fish pond". The kiln for the manufacture of the bricks was situated, apparently, in what is known "Super's Hill Woods", at the back of the hospital, on the road to Grimsargh. The hospital was built in four "phases", the first being St Luke's (the Main), followed by St John's (the Annex), then Cameron House, and lastly St Margaret's (the New or West Annex). In addition to these 'divisions' there was also a Sanatorium of fourteen beds built for Infectious Diseases, which became known as Fryars' Villa, later to become part of the accomodation for the resident staff. The hospital served the community for almost 150 years, and, in its' day, was a virtually self sufficient community.

    Enjoy…

    But great photos and report.
You have some great finds in there aswell.
Mind, when the floor gives way and the joists in the ceiling are swollen and collapsing - Make sure you are somewhere else ;):thumb

I do love Whitty. Shame, but inevitable that they're demolishing her now, it has to be said. I want to say I'll take another trip back, but given the distance, can't see it happening any time soon!

    Great pics MSP :)

And glad to have been of help....even though you don"t have a sense of direction or actually listen to me :D

Knew you"d love it with all the collapsing floors and totally Derped everything along with all the variations of Asbestos ever made :)

Next time we"ll have to do it via Video then i"ll actually be able see what you"re doing :) At least you got in before the complete Demo. At this rate there will only be Denbigh left......for now
