For my first ever Explore, ended up going to see what was left of Whittingham Hospital in Preston with @rach_ello ,there wasn't much left to see at all, the whole site is now basically a demolished site apart from one structure still standing, for a first time doing this sort of thing though was still a great experience,

I would have maybe chosen a different place due to there being not much to really look at ,
But you can see by the last photo it would have been a nice building in its prime.

But good effort on getting out there :thumb

After Visiting Whittingham, we then ventured to "St.Josephs" in Preston but being Mid-Afternoon it was absolutely heaving & from looking around there was no really signs of access that wouldn't have been deemed illegal (was a little gutting as the photos I've seen on here makes it somewhere I'd really like to see)

Well like I say good effort for getting out there, have a look around the forum there is plenty
of places you can explore .
Tunnels, ROC posts, culverts, or just walk ins are nice ones you can start off with,
Depends on what sort of stuff you are interested in.

Wow, that is depressing. Never got to see this place, but it looked real good. That last remnant is almost rubbing peoples face in it

You gotta start somewhere mate and youre getting out thats all that matters! I grew up round here before it was closed, when I was a kid some of the patients were allowed into the village and as for Whitty the grounds and buildings were immaculate! Such a shame its ended up like this!

That's very sad. With a tiny bit of effort some of it surely could have be saved :(

Shit I thought they were supposed to be keeping admin (which is what that building was, btw) and the front four wards blocks - that was the original plan. Oh well another unique asylum completely gone then.

Ironically the few buildings they were supposed to be retaining ( to keep the objectors/campaigners etc happy) were in the worst condition of the lot. The other Lodge houses etc were in way much better better condition & the first to go!

Which was a backdoor way of ensuring they could finally demo everything on site eventually, due to the unforeseen condition of said buildings ,once everyone lost interest & the "Bat" issue was sorted out which had postponed the demo, as they wouldn"t use the expensive roost that had been built for them ;)

Anyone who thought anything was to be retained was unfortunately duped, in much the same way as the Water Tower was quickly demo after a local builder offered 200K for it. It was never in the plans.

Amazing what you find out talking to the various people actually doing the work on site.

I still have 100 mins of Quadcopter footage to edit from here one day
