Coed y pit looks like it'd be ok? Loads of woodland on the banks of the river if you want a paddle.

Your best bet is to just find all the possible spots on a map and turn up at one.

If worst comes to the worst, you've got a car to sleep in.

Theres a field about 3 miles south of Brecon and at the base of Pen-y-Fan that people use for camping. No facilities but the stream deep enough to wash in (not to swim in). Campfires allowed but bring you own firewood as the area is now stripped of firewood and the farmer does expect a couple of pounds. It puts you right at the start of the interesting route up Pen-y-fan. Little mountain lake half way up Pen-y-Fan from here which is swimmable but freezing.

Grid reference: SO005240, place name is Cwm-llych

Failing that: the waterfalls a couple of kms south of Ystradfellte. It's possible to get behind a waterfall here in a dry chamber and look out through the waterfall. Bit of a walk to get there though

if you going to Ystradfellte waterfalls, the parking is at a place called Cwm Porth about 2km south of the village and marked on the OS map. Not a free car park by the way. Take a good torch as there's an interesting cave to explore right next to the car park - but be careful people have died in there. The waterfall where you can get behind the water, is the furthest one to walk to the south and called Sgwd yr Elra. The whole of this area is thick forest where you could leave the path, get away from the crowds, wild camp and find solitude. Not sure about safe kayaking though, the waterfalls seem to be every few hundred metres on the river here.

Depends if you want forest/waterfalls or mountain - I've given my recommendations for both options and I travel to this area at least once a year. That camp site I mentioned, if you get up early and leave before about 8, you will miss the farmer collecting money
