Hello again folks, hope you're all well.

Last Sunday my friend (who wrote his own perspective on his own blog) and I got in touch with the caretaker/owner at Woolton Hall in Liverpool, we had heard in the past that he's more than happy to open the door for photographers to go in and document the place.

So we set off on our 150 mile journey down to Liverpool from Cumbria excited, knowing we didn't need to worry about access or anything!

    History

There's plenty of information online about this place so I'll just give you a quick overview...

Woolton Hall is an amazing 18th century country house with a very interesting history, the building was built as a country house in 1704 for the Molyneux family who lived there until Mr & Mrs Molyneux died in 1738 and 1766, After their deaths it was handed over to the local high sheriff, his family owned it until the late 19th century, since then the building has been MANY things, read through the post to find out more...

The building has been abandoned for 10 years and if you're interested in visiting this site then the current owner will actually open the door for you to go inside and take photographs etc. - You just need to contact him (His number is on their Instagram page - Woolton Hall)

    Video Report

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We entered through the large wooden doors and were instantly greeted by two lovely leather arm chairs sat right in front of a huge fireplace

We started to the left of the main entrance and headed through this gigantic 8ft wooden door which took us into the "Adam Lounge" - the amazing ceiling design was just one of many in this building (as you will see), there was also a kitchen behind the bar which would serve food to the customers and also to the masons who would use the building towards the end of the building's life.

We headed back towards the main entrance through the "Octagon Room", this room was amazing in design, it had a very distinct smell from the toilets though... Yum.

Again, notice the fantastic design that ceiling has!

Into the stairway we went and we were greeted by these two beauties sat at the bottom of the stairs, a lovely old piano and an old red phone box (don't see them very often these days!) - It was a bit of an odd placement for them but they made for some nice images!

I know nothing about pianos, any of you musicians out there know anything of the Chappell London brand of piano? Let me know in the comments.

Well, time to head upstairs, where this building gets weirder!

This is one of the bedroom suites from when this building was a hotel! - That's right, this building has been a bar, a hotel and more! - Again, the ceiling work is incredible!

This room reminds me of some sort of candy...

We headed up to the top floor where there are old community rooms and a wedding reception!..

Behind the wedding reception room was a very empty room but the light on the floor from the windows made for some really cool creative shots!

Back downstairs on our way out and we discover this room, possibly the craziest part of this building...

I was blown away by this room, you have the old paintings on the wall, the chandelier light which still worked, the huge dining table and the huge windows! - What an amazing room!

This room dates back to when the building was a girls school back in the 19th century! - That's right... A bar, a hotel, a wedding reception and a school!

This was the end of the exploration, as I said... If you'd like to go here then give the owner a call and he'll give you access to take photographs of the place!

Thanks very much for watching/reading :)

My one and only tip is to get in touch with the former owner/caretaker, his number is on their Instagram page (Woolton hall) and he will meet you and open the door for you to go inside and take photographs etc. He'll just wait around for you to finish and won't rush you, he'll even tell you old stories from when it was active :)

    Have fun!

Bloody hell, "Katie's house" is still in good shape, glad to see it! John is proper lovely, but seemed baffled as to why so many of us weirdos wanted to take pictures haha!

Does anyone know of any other places like this where the caretaker is happy enough to let photographers in?
