This was a purely accidental "explore". We were heading to the AAOR in Worsley woods to have a play abseiling off the roof, when on approach I saw a pile of rubble. At first I thought Peel Holdings had flattened the bunker, but the I saw bricks and then a big hole in the ground. After we'd finished messing about on the bunker roof and got suitably wet and dirty we had a quick mooch around what is the excavated basement of the former Worsley New Hall.

The New Hall, just like the Old Hall, was the seat of the Egerton Family and home to various Dukes of Ellesmere of Bridgewater Canal fame. The Hall has had quite a history, the excavation you see here was carried out by the University of Salford, for more information and history see here.

I wouldn't normally post something like this, but as I went to school nearby and the history of the Bridgewater Canal and the Duke of Ellesmere is something we were taught quite a bit about.
