Most of the huge British United Shoe Machinery works in Leicester is now cleared, apart from the Celastic factories and a few stores. The chimney was built in 1919 as part of the West power house on the site, it was 114ft tall. The areas the public were moved back to during demolition were a pretty rubbish view, but luckily all six of us Leicester lot present got into the special viewing area on site :D
