Report - Castle Bytham ROC Post- Lincolnshire Group

    Visited Castle Bytham post at the weekend and got the external shots and returned tonight with my son for the internal pics.

    The post first opened in September 1961 and closed in October 1968 and its not in good condition.

    The compound is rather damp and soft underfoot.

    We opened the hatch, which has no locking mech and looked down the shaft:

    There is 1 single bed frame with matress and a bunk with matress, the cupboard is still there and the siren box is there too:

    There were a few unlucky rabbits that did'nt make back up the ladder:

    We looked up the shaft:

    and we were pleased to get back in the car and then to the Fox And Hounds in the village for a beer.

    Not a post we'll return to in a hurry, however pleased we did it.
