Another one that has bitten the dust in recent years, visitied last summer after I left uni. Was a good little explore, although the buildings were a mess and we cut our visit short after spying seccers/pikies in the building. It would have been nice to make it to the back for the hall/mortuary...

All the card buildings have been flattened - although I seem to remember reading that there was a thinking that they should have been saved, hey ho...

to The Time Chamber: I don't know if you are still on the 28 days web site......Your report caught my eye because my ma in law passed away in Colindale Hospital in the late 1980s. She was beyond help in a normal NHS hospital as she had severe dementia. By then it was a 'last days' hospital being a bit small for general use.
At the rear was the blood laboratory for the area.

2016: The whole area consists of blocks of flats these days - all is swept away including the Newspaper Library building.
You might have attended Middlesex Uni. ? The Halls of Residence are in the old RAF officers mess and the area around. The main part of the old RAF airfield site is private housing. The RAF Museum took on some aircraft hangars from the old airfield.

Can't believe they closed that library, it's the blood service place still there?

Hi Oxygen Thief. Yes the housing site built thereon is called 'Edition' in memory of the Newspaper Library.
The whole of Barnet's inner part of the Borough is undergoing regeneration, Colindale, Cricklewood..
LBB are getting a lot out of it in planning gain but as usual it meant ignoring campaigns against redevelopment
of favourite things including the NL.
The collection is on line (the user pays) and the physical papers and comics have gone off to a space in Boston Spa. When I first went to the NL at Colindale there was a card index system. The papers were going over to a microfiche system - very modern! I'm glad I had a tour of the basement store where there were many treasured
items stored there but there were issues with the security and condition of the building even then.

I am not sure about the specialist blood laboratory. It would be marooned amongst the new blocks of flats. Unison made a fuss some years back when closure was announced with the operation being moved to the Filton, near Bristol site. There was a reprieve as it was the only such laboratory in London and S.East. I haven't looked lately so I don't know if it has survived to date.
