I took the plunge and decided to try and find this place today (17/01/2015) and was glad I did. I was really surprised how big it was.
Its a shame a fire seems to have destroyed any equipment etc. that was still down there, but tried to get some pics of what's left. I even went up the spiral stairs at the rear, but met a spider with he's web across the stairs, and although I was on my own and darkness etc. doesn't phase me, I DONT DO SPIDERS.
Sorry its picture heavy but I wanted to show the best bits of what's there for those who are thinking of or those who cant get here.
Im new to taking photos with a decent camera so any advice/etc would be greatly appreciated.

I know a couple of these are dark, but I wanted to give an idea of how dark it really is down there.

That camera cover is for the Fuji X10/X20 from the looks of it, I used to have one exactly the same for my old X10.

I need to visit here, I live very local and have no excuse not to go really.

What is the deal with the asbestos there, I've heard its pretty bad?

The asbestos is quite bad in places but it's easy enough to navigate round. Just try not to knock any of it disrupting any dust and a mask would be preferable.

About half way up about three of the steps are really loose but I managed to get past them OK. There's a few bricks, branches and rubbish on the way to. But the worst thing is the spiders, loads of em.

It was some months ago when I was there so I can't comment on the state now, but I somehow doubt it has improved. Very rickety with the odd step held on by little more than rust fragments as well as considerable rubble to avoid whilst climbing.
