Construction is currently in the fourth and final stage, due for completion on August 2014.

Pictures taken over 2 visits with AJ, joined by lucid second time around with the crane pointing the opposite direction for a slightly different persepective. Overall prettty straight forward both times... almost leisurely. Nice and high with some great views to the south and east of the city and overlooking the 52,000 capacity St James' Park Stadium.
I've been out and travelled plenty this year exploring wise, but mainly as a tourist, which is fun, but it was nice to get out locally and get something new and high done to feel enthusiactic about posting.
