Kent County Council is proposing to tear down the derelict former Adult Education Centre next to Kingsmead School in Canterbury.

Plans were due to be considered by Canterbury City Council's planning committee some two weeks ago. This, however, was deferred when the architect presented outdated drawings for the new build.

The demolition of the Victorian building, built in a style known as "Pont Street Dutch", is opposed by the Victorian Society, the Canterbury Society (PDF), the Canterbury Conservation Advisory Committee, and St Peter's Residents' Association.

Below is an image taken from Bing Maps. Google Street View is absent.

    Good luck :thumb

Ooh interesting. The one in Ashford is already gone, so will have to keep an eye on that.
