Back when i was a boy i remember going in this shop with my dad to buy his work boots. One day towards the beginning for 2010 i noticed it had closed and boards had gone up on the windows. With Sudbury being generally a quite respectful place i didnt expect to find a way inside and initially steered clear. However one day i noticed the fence was sagging a little and curiosity inevitably got to the better of me. Sure enough upon investigation i found the back door was swinging in the breeze!

Upon entering i was initially a bit disappointed to find the shop almost empty but as i started to look around a bit harder things got more interesting..

Its a little hard to find a history online but i know for sure that the shop had been there for many years being originally founded in 1924. Apparently Geoff retired when he turned 90 in 2009 after 61 years in the business. Im not sure if he is still with us but judging by the state of the place i fear probably not. It appears he had a keen interest in radio, metal detecting and maybe a few other unmentionable activities! :laugh

I suggest you check out Street View for an image of what it looked like when open in 2009. A local gem lost forever but at least the shop is now being renovated. Thought id post so the derp lovers can see. Been in 100s of places like this but this one meant a little more having has personal experience of the place before it was lost.
