Report - Grove Rake Flourspar Mine

    Sunk in 1896 and closed in 1999, although it looks as if that should have been in 1969!

    Nice to see a smallscale mine, with it's littlebath house. Also nice to have climbed my 25th headstock!

    The drift was dangerous, with low air and a dodgy roof, but the colour of the stone was beautiful. The adit os flooded a fair way down, so we were not down there long.

    A lovely site to explore, esp in the sunshine!

    Interesting to see water level has dropped a couple of feet.
    Take care not to wander to far into the water at the bottom of the incline, there is a 100 foot plus hole in there under the water somewhere......
