Report - Harworth Colliery S. Yorks April 2007

    Sorry, I know these are old photo's now but I think they are still current...
    I visited Harworth Colliery earlier in the year and after getting into a conversation with the guard (an ex-miner from the colliery) he sussed I was not there to steal anything and allowed me to walk around the surface of the site for as long as I liked and take pictures. All the surface buildings were well locked down and as the guard said "I can follow you all over the site with the CCTV"

    A lot of the general stuff you would expect to find lying around a colliery yard have already gone so I would not expect it to start work again although I was told that the inspection teams do descend the shaft every day and inspect all the way to the coal face. How true this is can be anybodys guess!
