Located just off covert lane coming away from Scraptoft on the outskirts of Leicester, is the Ingarsby Tunnel (also known as the Thurnby Tunnel). This was on the Great Northern Line. It is filled in at the North entrance and the south entrance has a 4-5mm sheet of metal, but someone has cut a hole in one corner with, looking at the cutting area, was a welder. There is an air shaft half way along.
Just 200 yards from the south portal is an Aquaduct that was built to divert a stream going through the planned route of the line when constructed

Another alcove, there's about 12 along the tunnel

The walls are seeping water, looks like for years judging from the rust

on our way back out, I took this shot just before the air shaft

I've tried most fields on the left and the spindle on the right, am I looking in the right direction?

It's okay it's just extremely overgrown so the original entrance is not accessible

    Apologies, I'm Danielle.
But I dont apologise that I was interested in finding it. My mum would play there as a kid and wanted to take a visit! I'm gone now so no need to panic.
