the story of this place is obscure & tragic... the construction began in the early 70's in Lemoiz, a small village in the north coast of Spain. a lot of protests took place right from the beginning, from ecologist groups and people who lived near to the zone. after some heavily supported demonstrations, ETA (basque military independentist organisation) started their opposition actions (Lemoiz is a village in the basque zone), and construction was stopped in 1984 after many deaths and bomb attacks (placed into the plant!!!!), when 1 of the 2 reactors was finished and ready to start working. more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemoniz_Nuclear_Power_Plant

it's difficult to visit the abandoned plant as the basque government is so strict and anything that's related to terrorism is under heavy control. all this happened nearly 2 decades ago but the wound is still opened.. they do not let anybody go inside the place, no journalists, no tv. there are security guards and you have to cross a few barbed wire fences until you reach the plant, but obviously many people has entered over the years and there are some ways to enter.
they have removed everything during all these years and many of the buildings are sealed with concrete... other buildings can be accessed but there is nothing inside and many of them are very dangerous. there are a few dangerous zones in the plant where you could be in serious trouble if you do not take care...

that's the offices building, looks really interesting but it is nearly impossible to access, the entrances are sealed and there's just 1 door that's closed & secured.
