I had been meaning to do this one for a while now, so I met up with Tom Sherman and Marsden1002 in the early hours of the morning in Stockport, to head into the dark, asbestossy ruins. I wasn't super excited about this one as other reports I'd seen had made it look like just a shell. While it was pretty much that, what they hadn't captured though was the scale of the place! Enjoyed this old derp more than I thought, but I'm still not crazy about it.

A little history for those interested. :)

Opened on 8 August 1910 by the London and North Western Railway to handle the increased number of trains and passengers following the opening of the Styal Line in 1909, it served as a relief station mainly used by extra trains and suburban services to the south of Manchester until it was closed to passengers on 28 August 1960. In 1970, the site was re-opened to serve as sorting office for the Royal Mail before it was closed permanently in 1986. It has remained that way to this day. You can read the details here on Wikipedia.

    Thanks for looking. :)

Now if you'll excuse me I have some asbestos fibres to cough up.
