    River Medlock whistle-stop tour

With an hour to kill waiting for the Mrs on a grey bank holiday Monday in Manchester,
it was either sit in Costa with a tall latte for company, or jump into the river Medlock
and spend some quality time surrounded by nappies, fanny plasters and all manner
of wonderful landfill and assorted sewer products....River it was then ! :D

Starting out just behind Oxford Road station, a quick jump over a wall and down the
river bank, I headed back up-river and towards Oxford Road station

The first section of bridgework, very sludgy underfoot and full of god-knows-what ?

upstream I pass under this attractive brickwork, housing a small sewer outlet

Pressed for time, I had to turn back before Hulme flumes little brother, and besides
there was something else I wanted to check out

I've always wondered what what in here ? and as the levels were low, I decided to
wade over the piles of debris and have a poke

Not much to see to be honest

very sludgy underfoot, until the floor levels back out and turns to brick

not too far in it gets too low to pass, but is obviously part of a much larger system

Not the worst way to spend a Bank Holiday, don't think the Mrs was too happy with
the car smelling of poo again though :D

    Cheers for looking
