Following on from the first visit in here ..

I figured a daytime trip was easily achievable.
I headed in Boxing Day at first light for a good look around in natural light.

Pics taken on two trips...26.12.2007 solo and a return trip on the 30th with 'Angel' who was all over this place with her camera !...

Explorers reports since ,have given some great descriptions of the site and its History so lets skip that and get straight to the pics...:p

    Baptismal font in the Chapel.

    Deserted Gastrointestinal Ward

Paediatric Ward on the top floor.

Love this tiling and wood on the Consulting Rooms floor

    Main Stairwell and Lift Lobby..

I found this written with Betadine solution on a surface in the HDU.....
( probably by a demolition contractor, judging by the state the place is in ! )

Theatre Level....Theatres in a surprising state of 'intactness'..but not for long ,I fear...each visit has seen more destruction here.

On the Surgical floor I found a filing cabinet with a load of records for Pacemaker patients, Heart Valve Implants and a sugical procedure called Cardiomyoplasty......
Cardiomyoplasty was a fairly novel treatement for a failing heart where a large chunk of back muscle was resected and tunneled through to the chest cavity...here it was 'wrapped around the failing heart ventricles ( with its original blood supply intact)...An electronic stimulator, very similar to a pacemaker was attached to the muscle with a pacing lead so that the muscle could be stimulated rhythmically to aid the hearts contraction.
The results of this technique were not as good as initially hailed...and many patients died ( although they were all quite sick to begin with and need this level of intervention).

Its a great explore , despite the demolition carnage.....just watch out for the asbestos....its particulary prevalent on the upper levels.
