In the south of Taiwan, protected by a substantial mountain range and away from any large areas of population lies a missile testing area and airbase. Only within the last fifteen or so years has this area been accessible to the public as relations with China have changed for the better. This area consists of a coastal road, which is accessible to the public. However, roads leading off into the mountains from this road are still off limits. The airfield and the centre of the base is still a very secret installation.
Along the coastal road there are several military installations which have been mothballed. The sites are still technically live, which makes for added excitement. I have managed to access two of the sites so far: the one shown below is pretty much abandoned. However, yesterday, I managed to get into a site which is still very much under care and maintenance and still has equipment and electricity on site. That report will come later.

In the mean time, here is a rocket testing installation which was decomissioned about 10 years ago. It is situated between a mountain and an artificial mound of earth to guard against external damage from an explosion inside the compound. I hope you find the report interesting.
