We had a right good crack at this one last summer but it was a real pain the ass to get into and was covered in PIR's which after about an hour led to us being escorted of site by a terrified security officer. The site is well through demo with not much left.

Fast forward a year and we were back, crawling through long grass to avoid the loud-mouth mobile-to-ear security guard who has overwatch of the site from his cabin over the road. It's a shame we missed this when it was in it's prime. Past reports show large machinery and lots of good stuff left behind. This time we were dealing with a shell, consider this a tribute, a goodbye to a mill that never got the attention it deserved...

Penwortham Mills, just to the south of Preston, Lancashire, was home to Vernon-Carus since 1915. It was a major manufacturer of surgical lint, which was the first surgical dressing to be commercially manufactured in the UK. When it was founded, Lancashire was the world’s centre for weaving and fabric production.
