so we were sitting bored one night about 11pm and we decided to head for Polphail and spend the rest of the night there doing our first night explore, we have been there during the day before and we loved it, i would really recommend visiting Polphail during the night as it is just phenomenal, very spooky but you wont regret it, sadfully we rushed getting ready and never took all the right equipment so the night time pictures came out pretty poor.
Polphail was built during the early 1970s to provide accommodation for up to 500 workers at a nearby oil platform construction yard in Portavadie, but was never occupied because the yard never went into production.

There have been numerous proposals to create timeshare facilities on the site of the derelict village over the years, but all have failed to attract sponsors. A further proposal reviewed in 2006 projected a village which could rival Tighnabruaich in size, with a marina for up to 250 vessels.

cheers buddy, its really worth it, the pictures dont do the size of the place much justice but it is a really large village and the best part is its in the middle of nowhere with perfect scenery

I was just looking to see if there was a private airfield up there that I could land at, but nothing obvious :(

I did this place about 2 years ago and there was signs all over basically saying. Keep out, restdests for bats, didn't see a single bat whilst doing the full explore. Glad to see it hasn't really changed all that much :) thanks for sharing
