This was the first on the list on our Euro derp tour, we were passing through anyway so thought it would be rude not to. It's been a bit of a hotspot of late but we cracked on with the mooch regardless. Following the sat nav and without realising it we pretty much pulled up outside!...it was the least of our worries being seen considering the army of french gypsies that pretty much surround half of the outside of the prison, we knew it could turn nasty when we saw overturned cars lying about! we high tailed it out with a quick sharp U-turn and up the road to hatch a plan.

We walked at speed trying to not attract attention to ourselves even though we stood out like a turd in a pint of milk, we knew if we were pinged by the gypsies they would be on us like a rash, thoughts were going through our heads of being swarmed, shanked up and our camera gear nicked, a slightly worrying thought but quite funny afterwards.

Took us a while to work out what the best option was considering the obvious route was a no go but with some ingenuity we were in.

In regards to history there isn't much kicking about, apparently it was shut down as early as September 2011 and has slowly been trashed over time, at the end of the day its a prison and having the opportunity to see such a location was a privilege.
