March 2011 Jos and I have visit this school

    Here some info:
This is a school in a village, wich has been all but abandoned in an area where several villages have been completely eradicated. During the 1960s, a major enlargement of the industrial zone to the east of Delfzijl was plannend requiring the demolition of serval villages: Oterdum, Heveskes and Weiwerd. But, whilist Oterdum and Heveskes completely disappeared except for some tombstones and the church respectively. Weiwerd managed to survive as the enlargement did not prove as profitable as expected and the original plans were never completed. In spite of this, people moved away from Weiwerd; surround by industrial installations, most of the residents sold their properties to the authorities who immediately demolished them, so that most of the village has disappeared. Allthat is left are a few farms, some still inhabited, others left abandoned. The Emmaus Foundation, owner of some the remaing buildings, has just bought the school and plans to demolish it.
