Not much to say about this one. It's only a small site, sitting in the middle of a car park in Georgetown, Penang. Nevertheless it has a bit of history in the town.

The building was constructed in the 1880s as a 5 storey building by rich businessman Cheah Tek Soon. Sometime after 1908 it became the Raffles-by-the-Sea Hotel. Here is an image of the hotel in its heyday. When the hotel failed in the 1920s the building was leased to the government and became an English school. Like many buildings in Penang, during World War 2 it was used by the Japanese. The building then operated as Shih Chung Branch (primary) School from 1949 to 2000. It is currently surrounded by a car park, in quite poor condition but with some very nice architecture.
