Report - Short's Rochester, Kent. 09/12/07

    On a wet and windy Sunday where else to go but Short's at Rochester. History of the site should be well known - flying boats built here during the war, used by an engineering firm until the 80s when the land around was redeveloped for housing. A massive site inside and straightforward access. Joined here by Syme, J Cadet, CitadelMonkey, tinylittlelil and Porkpie (nice to meet you mate!).

    One of the caverneous tunnels near the entrance

    Large Air Vent up into the hill above (missed this on previous trips)

    The tunnels split in a number of places

    These gates are at the entrance to the vaults area

    Builders of the houses above have used the tunnels as access for drains
