Found this rather nice little pub while driving around drain hunting… one quick glance and I was pretty sure it was empty.
A quick scout around the place and on finding an access point… with a rather comical entry involving a lobster… a brief mooch about inside the building followed. It looked promising, so after a few words with a local who confirmed the pub was indeed closed, it was a case of having to throw caution to the wind and just hope it wasn’t alarmed… a return visit was needed.
Its probably a bit “new†as its only been empty a couple of months and not exactly everyones cup of tea, but still, it was closed, it was empty and made for a rather nice couple of sunny visits.
TJ Doyles used to be called The Winston, licensed only since the 1980’s… before that the Winston was formerly a Shipyard Managers Lunch Room and was in use as such in the time of Sunderland Shipbuilders and then later North East Shipbuilders.
