    It was opened at the turn of the last century to make refractory bricks for use in the steel industry. The bricks were exported by sea from the works' own harbour. The whole operation closed down at the start of the first world war and most of it has slowly rusted away ever since.

    Report - Porth Wen Brickworks, Anglesey - 30\04\06

    Remains of an old brickworks on the coast of Anglesey visited last weekend. It was operated from 1850 to 1914, and there are three beehive kilns remaining. The clay was brought from the hilltop by aerial tramway, from a nearby quarry, and the finished bricks left by boat.
