    The Story
This culvert is something I've had my eye on for a while. I've not done any sort of waterway before and as a result I went in without proper equipment and came out with soaked boots and trousers. Never again.

I can't find much information about why a culvert was build here, but my best guess is that when the M53 was being built the river had to be diverted so not to interfere with the roadway. It follows alongside the M53 up from junction 3 until near Upton station where it goes underground. It is then briefly uncovered before going back underground and crossing under the motorway. At the end of this tunnel there is a grille, however I hope to go back soon and explore the rest WITH waders.

At this point we were standing in about 18 inches of water, so we made our way back and found another way into the culvert further along.

And that's my first culvert. Thanks for looking!
