Can not find a spot of history on this place! Was once an Indian restaurant with a motel behind it, they were both run together from what I've gathered. If anyone has any history or information on this, feel free to educate me.

Edit:
Originally The Haywain pub and motel:

"The Haywain is a family run motel on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. We benefit from beautiful countryside whilst still being on a major tourist route through to Skegness. We have a number of rooms available all of whom have en suite facilities with showers.
The rooms have tea/coffee facilites and some have brand new freeview TV's. The rooms are clean warm and comfortable and should you wish a longer stay linen changes are made at your request.
We benefit from a large carpark so you can park immediately outside your room which benefits both the disabled guests and people who are concerned about their vehicles. The motel has a large restaurant and 2 function rooms as well as a fully stocked cosy bar area."

The pub and motel closed and was taken over as an Indian Restaurant which also unfortunately closed.

The explore itself was very last minute and unplanned, and my usual explore buddy (my dad) did not have his professional camera :(
Photos taken on mobile phone in the dark so not the best quality. I am looking to upgrade my photo set up in the near future though..

But yeah, the place is smashed up to hell. Shame. Nothing too exciting but worth dropping in if in the area

Not bad find this. Photos are not bad, we are explorers not photographers and its ok to not get the perfect shot. Yes we all want our sets to be great, and most are. But phone shots are ok too. Its the explore and general showcase & history that counts.

What was the name of the Motel? could give us lead on history. :thumb

Thanks! Considering it was super dark I didn't think they come out too bad..

The motel was run by the Indian restaurant also and doesn't have any signage up other than "Motel"

I'll keep googling! :D

It used to be the best Indian around, i have looked in to it getting it up and running as a truck stop / motel with full lot lizard facilities.

When I lived in Skegness I used to pass this on my way to work in Grimsby and watched it slowly decay over the years. I was always interested as to what condition those rooms was in.

It is around two miles from the secret underground ex-nuclear fallout hideaway.

Hi are you still looking into turning it into a truck stop? Because we're also interested in turning it into a club and motel

Hi mate. Might be a bit random but i’m the son of the previous owners of the taste of india and i saw that you couldn’t find much history about the place and honestly neither could we. when we bought it, it had been run down for years and we guessed it was a restaurant previously. The most about this place we know is the grave in wall of a little girl which we believed what caused the ‘odd’ things to happen around the place. i.e. bottles flying off the counter or doors locking either you in or out even if no one else was there. Bit of a ramble but hopefully this helps a little with the history. If you have any questions i’ll try to answer them as best i can. email: connorfellowsmcgrath@gmail.com

According to the 1950's OS maps, the building isnt pictured, my guess would be mid to late 60's construction due to the style.

Hi,

I used to live there. I used to have old photos of the building there going back to 1906. Way back before that it was a coaching/mail centre. The current buildings aren't that old but if you go in the cellar or into the old drainage system you'll find the history. In the old courtyard there was a well down which a child bloody was found back in the 60s.

Yes the place is haunted to hell. Best thing that can happen is it gets pulled down. It's caused nothing but sadness for decades.

The cottage opposite, diagonal to the garage was cute. A guy called Derek lived there with his partner. He died just before his 60th birthday. Very sad.

Haunted??. Why is everywhere haunted that's abandoned. Been in loads of abandoned buildings, and the only fright I had was walking around the corner and seeing my mate naked doing a selfie :thumb:eek:
