Lead or Rumour info - Abandoned building next to Hotel Ibis, South Coventry

Recently, a friend and I came across this building next to the Ibis Hotel on Mile Lane in South Coventry. As far as we know, the building has not been used for a while.
The downsides are that it is in plain view from the road (you can see it from the roundabout) aswell as it being next to a couple of busy hotels. We don't know what it was once used for, and haven't managed to gain entry yet, but this will require further investigation. See photos for location and possible entry point.

The former Quinton Works, built in 1890 as a cycle factory, situated at the junction of Mile Lane and Quinton Road, acquired by the Swift Motor Company in 1905. During World War I the factory contributed to the war-effort, producing munitions, military bicycles, Hispano-Suiza and Renault aircraft engines.

Could be interesting if you look for the smaller details...

It looks unused but it's listed as part of the Ibis hotel. Bar downstairs, restaurant upstairs apparently.

Can you have a look / take a pic through a window?

If you follow go a few yards up Mile lane which is just past the IBIS entrance and look back Cycle works is painted on the building in large letters.

This building has been in this state for many years 10+. Strange. NB The central police station is on the same roundabout about 150yds away.

(It goes without saying) Styru was spot on with the history,

and happy to prove myself at least half wrong. The Land Registry says the whole building is owned by Ibis. A planning application in 1999 said it would be bar and restaurant for the hotel. A subsequent application shows it as “For concession useâ€￾ and it seems they converted part and built the new 85 bedrooms, but they never made the conversion of this part.

Through the windows it looks like they use it as storage for hotel junk – filing and furniture. As OT said it could be interesting for the smaller details but I didn’t fancy it on a Sunday morning with the hotel breakfasters watching!

Apologies for poor pic, taken through a window above my head.
