This was such a crap explore everything is wrecked but its such a huge part of American culture that it was a highlight of the trip.

Status: Abandoned
Screens: 3 (only 2 survived by 2019)
Capacity: 520 cars
Original owner: Dr. Luther Grant
Opening date: June 18, 1949
Final season: 1997
Summary: From the 1920s to the 1970s, New York City Jews flocked to Catskill resorts in the summer months to escape the stifling heat of the city. There were once over 500 resorts and hotels in the area, known as the “Borscht Belt“. Many famous comedians and entertainers got their start here. With increasing religious tolerance and the advent of widespread commercial airliners, many families chose to vacation elsewhere and dozens of these establishments now lay abandoned.

Lol the Adult store is closed but the owner for some reason goes back to harass anyone exploring the drive in. We didn't have the pleasure.

No photos of the projection rooms? They were totally intact with three projectors when I was there a few years ago and an amazing surprise to see in what we thought was just the refreshments building.

The guy who owns this and the adult video store opposite also owns the derelict hotel resort next door (in which I fell through the top floor), and the derelict bungalow colony next to that as well.

Okay that explains why he is known to harass. I didn't see the projector room, maybe it was gone, did you do a report I can't see it on a search? Would be great to see it. I didn't know the catskills had so much abandonment. I think future trips might be less miles covered and more learn what's in an area.

I think I did but can't remember where it is lol! The projector rooms were in the concessions buildings behind some non-descript doors.

The Catskills has a load of abandoned Borscht Belt resorts and other stuff, leftovers from the heydays of Jewish holiday makers flocking to the area.

Here are some photos I got of the projectors though to save you looking! The room containing the older projector was a treasure trove of old cinema artifacts.
