Report - Abandoned Orchard Farm House near Okehampton, Devon.

While driving I saw an old entrance that peaked my interest. Looked on google maps and could see some small buildings so went and had a look. So no history with this one. Sign and name on gate was ‘Orchard’ a common surname round here but large family that own a lot of land, farms, buildings.

Anyway had to fight through years of overgrowth and stinging nettles. Was definitely excited but sadly empty inside but still cool all the same and pleased with the find. House was on large bit of land about an acre, one end of the field was some recent mobile masts for Vodafone. House was between Okehampton and Halwill Junction.

Must have been you that trampled down all the nettles then . Did try today but wasn’t dressed for the fight of brambles. I’m going to have to try again now!!

If you come at it from the main road there is an opening in the hedge enough to climb through. Easier than jumping the metal gate and going that way

I tried, and the stingers were just to high, I’m only a short gal, they were pretty much up to my shoulders at least 4/5 foot high.

I’ve spent ages trying to work out where this place is! Good find, wonder about the history of it....?

i visited this place last month, it certainly takes you back! . Found it via Google Maps easily. Overgrown yes but i climbed the bank along the road and jumped down into undergrowth. It was my 3rd abandoned location, first in uk though
