Air Products limited in Acrefair was a plant manufacturing atmospheric gases electronic and performance materials and health care equipment as part of a multi national company. Owing to falling profit margins the plant shut its doors for the last time on the 18th of December 2009, taking 140 skilled jobs with it.
The site is an incredible explore. Only a week after closing and all of its contents still remain, the lights and electrics are still very much on, along with the water and all of the vending machines, not to mention fully functioning toilets.
As a point of information, it would seem that security have now started patrolling the site. Top marks for actually patrolling on Christmas night. However, I'd suggest their not too used to having to deal with people on site as they wandered straight past us more than once
Visited, as usual, with TheFlu24
On with the pics...
First stop, a roof crane with a view
And then onto a staff area with a large bathroom and locker rooms. the toilets are ideal if you happen to drink as much energy drink and the theflu24 and myself en route to the site
Just snapped this as a date reference
The next two pics where taken in an area that felt truly bizarre - like the worker employed here had just nipped for a fag break.
A big vat of caustic and an eye wash/decontamination shower (fully functioning)
Everything still operational in the offices
A truck with the keys left inside. aswell as a wonderful Satus Quo tape
Just to give you an idea of scale in here, this is one of two huge halls.
Gorgeous machinery
And finally - some offices overlooking the main halls. Enjoying a post explore coffee from the vending machines (which was surprisingly good !) Im sorry to say that you guys missed out, we had the last two coffees before the machine ran out of water
Hope you all enjoyed the pics of this fantastic site !
