Used to pass this place every day when going to work in the late 70s/80s and still pass it now and again since. I liked the front of the building for its Art Deco design. I was passing yesterday when I noticed it was being pulled down so a quick look to see if I could see anyone in the site (Its on a main road) and found a parking place and walked in from the back. I was there for nearly a hour before the demolition men can back (Most properly had breakfast) and spotted me. Lucky was I was on my way out anyway and there was a good 200 yards between us.
A little of the history of the place
"Alexon House was was originally opened in Treforest in 1939 as a clothing factory. It moved to Hawthorn as part of an expansion in 1952. At its height the company employed 1,000 people. In February 2009, the factory closed, but has remained as a clearance shop."
We I drove past after, they had stated up the big machines and were finishing of the demolition, its a shame but I think it will be all down within a couple of weeks
