This was put up in the leads and rumuors recently.

The Alice Burrows care home in Reading opened in 1967 and was a 38 bed care home, providing residential care for physically frail older people, it closed in 2007.

The demand for ordinary residential care is declining, as more people choose to stay as independent as possible for as long as possible. Council's are providing more resources to support people in their homes and setting up Extra Care Housing, so older people are increasingly choosing not to enter traditional residential homes. It is part of council's Older People's Strategy to meet this changing demand, and it is recognised that this will mean less demand for residential homes.

Had a quick recce of the site on the way into work, even though it pretty well steel shuttered spotted a possible way in, there is no security on site, but this is right next to residential houses so the curtains were twitching. Returned later in the day and drove straight up to the entrance, popped on the fluro coat and hard hat and made like I was supposed to be there. The place is in very good condition no chav or pikie damage internally, even though they have stripped the lead flashing off the roofs. Exited and was quickly confronted by two old ladies made my excuses and was on my way.
