The only location that worked out on our recent trip to Poland, but it was worth it. The factory started operating in 1992 as an ash processing and storage facility and stopped operating in 2000 when the ash started being used in construction and the need to store it ended. I'm not sure about the exact process but it seems that the ash was made into a sludge, which was moved through pipes and then dumped in a nearby area. The access was easy. There was some info about possible security, but the site seemed empty. The site consists of the main processing building, a transformer building (which seemed to be running so we didn't push our luck), a small heating plant (small horizontal coal-fired boilers, we didn't find a way in), a water processing building (same as the heating plant - didn't get in), compressor house and what I assume was a workshop, but we didn't find a way in either - plus it was scorching hot so we didn't have enough energy to really try. Considering how long the factory has been closed, it was in a reasonable shape. I read somewhere that it's still considered a backup in case it's needed.
We first went into the compressor house and after some searching, we found a way in. There were three blue compressors.
Then we moved onto the main building. It was nice and the temperature was much more bearable than outside, but in general, there is not much to see there.
Then we managed to find the control room - it was tucked away in another part of the main building. That was the highlight of the trip. There were some servers still running next to the control room.
That's it, thanks for reading.
