Bailey Mill - Delph

I had originally planned on hitting some drainz and culverts, but as the weather closed in I remembered the old saying...
no drains when it rains, so a quick call to Tom Sherman and we headed for the hills.

I'd had a pop a this place last March only to find every entrance screwed down tight..not so this time :D

History - stolen shamelessly from Magpie :thumb

Bailey mill in Delph was built in 3 stages, starting in 1863 with later additions in 1865 and 1871 respectively.
The mill was owned by the Mallalieu family who were in the textile business with cotton and later moving
onto wool. The firm went into administration in 1996. They came out of administration when they were bought
by another Delph weaving company, Gledhills. However, in doing so, most of the business was transferred to
Valley Mill, just up the road. Bailey Mill remained in use until about January 2000.

Oh, by the way...all the machines have gone.

The rather impressive exterior as viewed from the rear of the grounds, most of which is boarded and very secure..for now

Doors, bobbins, baskets, paperwork, pigeon-poo etc etc..still loads to root through, but the metal fairies have stripped it bare

A nice chilled explore even though it is now pretty much completely stripped, bar a shed-load of dead pigeons.

Sorry if the report is a clusterfuck of images..my laptops being a real pain...Thanks for looking :thumb
