It's been on the cards for many years, hopefully this will get passed even though it means the end of what structure is left on the site. The developers have been brave to incorporate the chimney into the new development.
Still not a bad local mooch even after the fire, the odd bit of interest still there.
In all fairness the owners of the mill, Mallalieus had tried their best over the years to preserve the Grade 2 listed building, often filling in access routes, they replaced the roof of the building after stone thieves stole the slates and removed the remains of the old loom workings to try and deter metal thieves.
Alas it fell fowl to a few local teenage scroats who decided playing with fire inside the mill was a good idea. They were caught, but the Crown Prosecution Service decided it would be detrimental to their future if prosecuted.
Hopefully the carved name of the mill and date of construction will be reclaimed from the remains of the mill and incorporated in the new development.
