This imposing building was erected in 1889, for the purpose of helping girls in this working class district to improve their education. From 1974 it became the Rydal Youth Centre, but withdrawal of funding by the City Council in 2006 led to its closure. Empty to date, it has suffered the theft of lead from the roof, but the scallys have failed to get inside.
This was a spur of the moment chance to explore, so sorry about the odd flash pic. Having had my eye on this for a long time, patience finally paid off, so enjoy!
