Every explorer has a ‘List’ of sites they would love to explore these lists differ from person to person, although i think fairly close to the top of this list must be Battersea Power Station. Its very sad that i missed the chance to explore this before the major works started! Nowadays the site is very much ‘Locked Down’ it’s peppered with PIR’s and Camera’s with a heavy security presence – Dogs and all!

Given the circumstances i would usually be very wary, and a little put off maybe, but this is one i HAD to see, even just for the grand Control Room ‘A’, we made it in, worked around the security (Nearly getting spotted 4 or 5 times) and set looking for the Control Room, a few hours past and we still hand’t found it, we were a little lost standing where the Main turbine hall would have been and spotted the distinct windows jutting out the wall… We found it, made our way up there to see the spectacle that many of Urban Explorers had talked about for years! It was much more impressive than the photos i had seen. the sheer scale of the room was stunning i think Control Room Porn comes to mind… I sat baffled that even after 30 Years of closure, it was still intact, and in a good state, its been very well preserved only the occasional Dial or Switch had been nicked or smashed but apart from that it was great! Enough of my rambling – check out the photos…

I wish I could get into that old power station 3 hours away; and although the turbines are long gone, I hear the control rooms are still in place. Its just a matter of time before this old power station goes the way of Battersea; since its heritage listed being 61 years old and there are plans at current to convert the space inside the empty boiler house and empty turbine hall into a mixed use; since the size of the interior can fit many forms of businesses. Can anyone confirm that the B-Side Control Room has been stripped? I don't want to read in a few years time and find out that they stripped it.

Great report! Glad to see this place is still accessible, sounds like a well planned military operation is needed to get in here, but worth it as it is such an iconic building.
