Report - Bedford College Arts Centre Development - 01-04-07

Went with Karaboudjan and another mate, not the most adventurous of places but a night out none the less. Most floors slabs are in, and the roof structure's not far off completion, and after climbing up ladders and through bits of scaffolding, my mate kindly pointed out that the stairwells have also been finished, doh!

Theres also a smallish crane on site (150 foot or there abouts), we did intend on going up there but it was more secure than expected, so a bit more planning on that i think.

The views from the top are pretty poor, one side has a quite nicely lit river which is shielded by trees, the other sides that tatty main college building.

We also recce'd an old office block, access was stupidly easy so it was probably full of tramps, so we'll revisit in daylight sometime.

Hey, I'm Karaboudjan, one of the other visitors  He's quite a few pictures, not sure if you'll be interested in all of them though.

Air conditioning on the roof of the exisiting building which the construction site is situated next to.

Leant on this and got quite a shock when I realised it was some kind of power outlet. Obviously shielded etc but put me on my toes!

This is the crane. The padlock that someone who wasn't us is holding is what seals the access to the crane's ladder shut. It would have been easy to climb past the grate bit but those fence things were attached to it. I was contemplating climbing up the fences as they had a kind of cross hatching of wires on them making them quite easy to climb but on closer inspection they were only attached to the frame of the crane by a few zip ties so didn't fancy fucking about on it only for it to collapse and fall onto the concrete grounding weights at the bottom...especially on my first UE!

That's about it, hope you enjoyed them :thumb
